Life is like a Bucket of Cherries

Whew! What a busy holiday weekend! I am just now sitting down to go through all the pictures and trying to re-think everything we did. Thursday night we stayed in Erie, Pennsylvania and got up Friday and headed to Presque Isle State Park to hunt for beach glass. The glass was few, as Lake Erie was in quite an uproar. We were able to find some interesting pottery pieces and smooth rocks. We also picked up several pieces of wood, so be sure to look back for our creations that we will be posting once the wood dries a bit.

After our ceremonious lunch at Sarahs Restaurant, we hit the road to Walkers Fruit Farm in Forestville, New York. We spent a couple of hours picking the beautiful red berries and ended up with two buckets of Sweet and one bucket of Tart. I froze several bags of the Sweet, gave some away, and enjoyed more than my share! I have already whipped up a cherry pie and I canned 2 quarts of Tart pie filling for later use. This was my first cherry pie, so the crust is a bit raggedy. Luckily, I have more ingredients to practice with; I hope that the two quarts that I tried to preserve will hold. If not, I think I will put them in the freezer tomorrow.

There is so much more to share, but I need to bid you good evening because it is time to start project production for the 2009 Knitty.com Calender Contest! Our project and photo shoot is always TOP SECRET, but I will post status reports as we go along.
