I centered the base cake on my Party Lite cake pedestal. I LOVE this pedestal, and was lucky enough to get it at a discount for hosting a party at some point. The cakes are french vanilla, chocolate fudge, and red velvet. I had originally planned on purchasing flowers that matched the bouquets, but the flowers that you see on the cake were blooming perfectly in my garden and I couldn't resist using them. The wedding is in August, and these flowers somewhat matched the ones that the bride had chosen. After the cake was delivered, it was home to host a brunch for my sister and five of her friends.

We set the picnic table outside, but at the last minute a thunder storm rolled in and we had to relocate to the dining room.

No worries. The brunch was delicious and the company was great! Incidentally, my linens and dishes are from garage sales and and the Salvation Army Store. I love getting such beautiful things at bargain prices - and I love that my items are being reused rather than landfilled. I think that people often underestimate the selection of amazing things are out there just begging to be re-purposed. If I see something that catches my eye, I will usually buy it if it is reasonably priced. Even if I don't have a specific use for something at that moment, I almost always find a use for my goods.
We topped off our Saturday by attending beautiful wedding at the Fredonia Opera House in Fredonia, New York. The architecture and preservation was amazing! Please support local preservation efforts when you can. There are so many fabulous buildings and historical hot spots that can be saved with a little help. Often, just a few hours of your time is worth more that a monetary gift.
