Crazy Busy

The past weekend has got to be one of the craziest weekends that I have had all summer. I made four relish trays, four fruit trays, 3 cheese and pepperoni trays, and 3 cracker platters for a wedding and a bridal shower. Both of these were on Saturday, so I spent the bulk of my Friday night working on these. I gave the wedding platters to a family member as my gift. They were a great as hors d'oeurves for the time space between the ceremony and the bridal party arrival. The bridal shower platters were made for another friend who was hosting a shower.

Such items are often good gifts for the guests of honor. Many couples have already established homes before they are married, and the need for another small appliance is just not there. I suggest that you ask in advance if there is something that you can do to help as your gift. Make sure that you are able to do what you volunteer for, and remember to bring a personal card to extend good wishes. Plan ahead of time if you want to pay for the materials or ask for reimbursement. This may sound cheap, but you will find that the time you devote to the special event is one of the best gifts you will ever give!

On Sunday, I hosted a baby shower to celebrate the pending arrival of my new niece, Ava Claire. I prepared a light luncheon and then enjoyed this cake that I made:

We also had our photo shoot for the Knitty.com Calendar contest! I sent the pics off this week, so now we will just have to wait. And let me tell you, the wait is agonizing!

Now I am off and running. It is Warren County Fair Week, a company picnic at Waldameer Park in Erie, Pennsylvania, and we are catching a plane to Dallas, Texas next week to visit friends!
