Why am I exhausted. Or at least one reason...

I have been working like crazy on a new home that we purchased for my Grandma to live in. The house itself was only a whopping $6750, but we had to invest another $10K in repairs and upgrades. Which is fine, because the place is looking super cute and feels like home.

The best part is that my Grandma will be living only a few doors from me.

One of the areas that was a bit, shall we say..lacking; was the kitchen. There was only a sink cabinet and a cupboard above the stove area. I was poised to purchase unfinished cupboards from a local big box, when I realized that there was a much better alternative.
My good friends' Dad cleans out homes that are abandoned, foreclosed, or just have a bunch of crap that needs moved. He keeps most everything..which works great for us! We spent a day combing through the "junkyard" and these were some of the goods I came away with. I had plans for most everything I took home. Mainly I was excited about the kitchen cupboards and the shelving that is sitting on top. (Yes, I realize it is a hideous yellow.) I painted the cupboards and the shelving with a shiny white paint, and put a piece of plain lumber on the top as the counter. All of the beautiful items you see on the shelves are from my Grandma's collection.
