1. Fifth Avenue Cake Works. Want an artistically, original sweet work of art? Call Fifth Avenue. Locally owned (YAY!) by Jennifer Shepard Werth, Fifth Avenue can create pretty much anything you want out. Some of my favorites? The Rubber Duckies and the Fresh Berries with White Chocolate Icing Cake.

2. Hog Wild BBQ Company. If you think tasty barbecue is a Southern thing, think again. Locally owned (YAY!) by Dean Wells, Hog Wild can cook it up and serve it on a platta baby! Last night we feasted on Mojo Pork sandwiches with sides of sweet slaw and beans. Not only was the pork a-maz-ing, I like to say the word Mojo. Mojo. Mojo. Hog Wild caters for any size party and there are frequently specialty items available.
3. Touch of Tranquility Salon and Day Spa. Love love love this spa! Another great locally owned (YAY!) business, Tranquility is a gorgeous oasis tucked along the Conewango Creek in North Warren. As soon as you walk in the door you know you are in a fabulous place. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. The decor is to die for. Calm. Beautiful. Tranquil. In addition to spa and beauty services, Tranquility also carries Sorme' make-up, OPI nail polishes, Eufora Hair Products, and Miche' handbags and accessories.
4. Running rEVOLUTION. I ran my first 5K yesterday. It's a pretty big accomplishment for me since a couple of months ago I was 20 pounds heavier and a complete couch spud. Did I like it? Not while I was running it. As a matter of fact, I hated the whole 3.2 miles. But once I finished I had a whole new sense of accomplishment. I would have never even considered trying the 5K had it not been for the confidence that I have gained as part of the Running rEVOLUTION.
5. Progress. Sometimes we get a little impatient. As I have said before we often catch some flak for living in Warren, Pennsylvania. There are a lot of us who are in it for the long haul, myself and my family being among that group. Within the last few months, I have gained a new appreciation for our little city. We have some great new stores and so many talented entrepreneurs who are working diligently to make us a better place. Warren is building a super support system within our Main Street Program, Shop Warren County First, Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry, and GRO-Warren. Buy local - you will never be disappointed and every transaction helps move our little city toward bigger and better!
Yep. I can oh, so relate. Grrrrrrr...
