It's a Shirt! It's a Dress!

I love Shirt-Dresses. Perhaps it is just the idea of using two clothing pieces together, intertwined and stitched into a marriage of one perfect piece. Okay, maybe I am getting a bit goofy sentimental here about clothing.

I have been a Manic Clothes Collector for as long as I can remember. And I'm cheap. That may be the wrong word - I am thrifty. I scour clearance racks, second-hand stores and garage sales looking for the most bang for my buck. I almost always find what I want, and I always find something I need.

I just lost 18 pounds. (Within the last 5 months, not since the beginning of this post.) Oddly enough, I am still about the same number size but for some reason things just fit me better. I'm okay with the fact that I will most likely be a size 14 for the remainder of my fashionable life as long as I am not packed into my Capris like a hooker in hot pink spandex. Laugh. You've all seen it. And it ain't pretty.

Ya know, Marilyn Monroe was a 14. I assume that I have been put on this earth as her Bombshell Double. I just wish I could pull off the platinum hair.

Back to the Shirt Dress - the Star of today's post. I have tried on Shirt Dresses before and I just couldn't find one that I was comfortable in. FYI - by comfortable I mean sassy. I'm not picky about my clothing. I prefer for the buttons not to blow off in the middle of the day or for the zipper to leave a permanent skin lesion..although I can suffer through quite a bit of discomfort to get to sassy. So I want to look similar to this:

"Why yes major catalog model who was discovered shoveling fish eggs at the hatchery - I do think the Shirt-Dress makes you look at little hip-py. Hmmm." Blahahahahaha! Whew. Anyway, I found this super cute shirt dress at the Goodwill. I tried it on and Halll-e-looo-ya! the buttons weren't straining and it laid smoothly over my ass (which, incidentally can be mistaken for a shelf..)

My accessories included an oober-cool vintage belt that I picked up at an estate sale, new shoes brought home from the same Goodwill shopping trip as that produced the Shirt Dress, clearance earrings (I think $2?) and a pair of my glasses. I have several pairs of glasses. That will have to be another story, another day. So let's see:

Dress: $4.99
Shoes: $4.99
Purse: $3.99
Actually $2.50 each for the dress/shoes, and $1.50 for the purse (not shown) because I had filled my punch card and got 50% off my total purchase..Yesssss....
Earrings: $2
Belt: $1
Grand Total: $9.50

Fab-u-lous.
